Antiwork

I can’t understand my father’s action of joining a hard labour job with horrible working conditions after he retired from desk job and the pension is comfortable. The supposed reason – He wants to keep himself busy.

My father has joined a job which requires him to drive. The conditions are horrifying. He has to be there everyday (7 days a week, no holiday per week). I asked how the work was and he said it was physically tiring. He is 60+ years old and has had a medical spinal problem in the past. His pay is less than 1/5th of what he made before he retired from government desk job. The pension is still coming, 1/2 of what he made before. I don't know why he is putting himself through this for the supposed reason of 'keeping himself busy' and 'not being lazy'. Although my mom has assured me that it wasn't because of me, I do wonder if this is my fault. I had to discontinue my post graduate studies due to health problems. After recovering, I am preparing for entrance exam again to enroll…

After all who would give up sweet retirement life of lazing around all day, watching whatever you want movies, youtube videos etc.
