I was always told the sage advice from early childhood to now early adulthood that I should follow my passion. But that never sounded right to me. I asked myself does passion exist? Is it only a social construct?
Then I'm told that if I don't have passion for what I'm doing them I am not gonna succeed or make it and that infuriates me. What about the people who don't have the opportunity to follow their passion? People who are disabled, physically ill, mentally ill, in poverty, victims of modern day slavery and war. It's not just for jobs but everything.
And I have to add we are on the verge of collapse because of capitalism. Since capitalism is the sole driving force of climate change and how it looks like its not going to stop anytime soon this whole passion advice is not feasible, it's never going to be an opportunity that will exist for the rest of my life.
