So today my manager called me out and basically asked if I wanted to be here? I was absolutely startled cause where was this question coming from? It was so left field and out of bounds? I asked him what went wrong or if I broke any major protocol? He said no, so I then asked him what he was bringing me out for?
And then he states that yesterday I abandoned my coworker during rush hour which is absolutely false, I observe Ramadan which means I don’t eat all day for 15 hours, no food no water nothing and that’s already hard enough and it’s even harder when I’m working in a smelly hot kitchen.
We where meant to break our fast at around 5:50 pm and everyone him included knows that I go off to eat for about 30 minutes and come back immediately unfortunately this time there was a rush hour and I stayed on the line for about 2 hours till around 7:50 after the rush hour stopped.
Go get my food and eat mind you the whole store is basically clear and I asked my coworker if she needed any help before I went on break and she said she was fine.
Interesting detail to add we have a upstairs room and one of my coworkers was eating upstairs earlier in the day and I asked if it was cool to eat here during break and she was like oh yeah everyone does it manager allows us so I’m like cool I’ll come here during break as well.
So I go up stairs to eat and 5 minutes in I get a call from the manager telling me to go back down stairs and help my coworker the whole time I’m thinking how tf does this man see me? Turns out he was spying on me through the camera, whatever I don’t really care I go downstairs and help my coworker out because I’m not a dick and then after a whole 2 hours I finally get to break my fast properly.
This whole scenario rubbed me the wrong way because I go above and beyond for this company, they even schedule me on days I have classes and I turn up on those days and early as well. Seems fucked up that he tried to use job security over me.
