I was laid off back in 2020 for COVID, and it almost broke me. I contemplated ending things many time, and it took me two years to find a new job and get out of poverty. I went through a crap ton of therapy for it.
My new job sent out an announcement this week that some people may be laid off, and I’m worried my job is on the chopping block. To make it worse, I also got diagnosed with cancer. So I’m under extreme amounts of stress right now, and still in therapy of course.
I can’t go through another layoff, and unemployment. I literally cannot afford to not have insurance or money to pay for my treatment. If this happens again, I truly think it will break me.
I’m going to start looking for jobs, but who the hell is going to hire someone who needs to take time off for cancer treatment.
I’m so tired of having to go through this, and working just so I don’t die or live in poverty. But I worked hard, and it still doesn’t matter, because I could get laid off at any point.
