Just had my mid-year performance review. Is it wrong of me that I don't care to be promoted? I'm making plenty of money and I just would like an increase to at least partially offset inflation. I don't expect a 20% raise. I don't want to be put on huge high-visibility projects just to be stressed out and overworked. I don't want to aspire to be the head of my department. I don't want to eventually be the CEO. I'm good at my job and I do it well. But I just want to work, collect my paycheck, live my life and retire at a decent age. I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation.
But apparently that makes me a “low performer.”
