I recently got hired as a courier by a nonprofit that does a bit of everything, including Head Start, energy/housing/food/etc. assistance for low-income people, abuse shelters, and quite a few other services. My first week there, they had an all-staff meeting, and everyone was legitimately happy to be there. When I talked with people, I didn't hear a single complaint. It was actually off-putting, because I've never seen that.
Additionally, I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop, where there's some power-tripping manager, or an incompetent supervisor who got there by manipulating the system, or a coworker ready to screw me over for a 10¢/hr raise; but there's no one like that here. NO ONE.
Other features of the job:
-Medical/dental benefits
-403b (nonprofit version of 401k)
-Across the board yearly pay increases (I believe it's 2%. FOR EVERYONE)
Honestly, the whole thing feels too good to be true, and my terrible experiences with businesses in the past isn't letting me fully enjoy it.
It's a great problem to have! It also really emphasizes why this board is so popular. I cannot suggest finding a np job enough.
