Hi, I got hired at my current job on Nov 2, 2022. Its a retail job where I basically function as a salesperson. On christmas eve, I was called in to work a shift, where my general manager did nothing the entire time and I worked alone on the busiest day of the year. Im okay with that, my job is easy and I
enjoy it enough. On MLK day, it was the same deal, I worked alone while mu general manager did nothing but move a couple things around in the front of the store. This is just how my manager is, nobody likes them and everybody wants her gone because she is by far the worst performer but is somehow able to constantly complain about things.
Thats not the issue though, the issue is me being straight up lied to. She’s done it numerous times in different circumstances, but I was guaranteed floating holiday hours for working christmas eve and MLK day. I would be able to use these hours any time and basically cash them out, basically as a sorry for having to work those days. I tried cashing them out about a week ago because I had hardly received any hours and I wanted to boost that paycheck, and they werent available to use. I asked my managers and they “checked the policy” and didnt find anything. My coworker said I should call HR and get it sorted out, so I did this morning. They told me that I would not receive the hours because I was hired too recently.
Im 18 years old who is moved out and trying desperately to make rent and save money. Am I over reacting by being pissed off? I just feel really screwed over by my managers
