I HATE corporate America

Not sure this is the exact right place but it does reflect my view on how fucked American Capitalism is so here goes. I HATE working at my new job. I’m working now at a company that does financial brokerage, which is in itself fucked (but I do kinda like helping ppl with their retirement account, makes me feel good to do some good), and I’m taking calls from customers. It really has made me realize how far corporate culture has fallen. Yes, this is a call center, but you’d think they’d have a higher standard of service bc a college degree is required for this since we’re stock brokers. I’m still in training and I’m doing my best to address customers concerns and resolve them but all the trainers make it seem like I’m incompetent bc my handle time is a little high. They play lip service to this…

They play lip service to this saying that sometimes it takes a little longer for a good experience but they make me feel like an idiot every time I decide not to just steamroll someone’s concerns.

Yeah I guess I could speed it up and just let customers know that the company couldn’t care less about their concerns but they aren’t the ones on the phone having to say that. This guy just BEGGED me for a good minute to send him some sort of WRITTEN confirmation that his account wouldn’t be closed bc he received WRITTEN notice that we were gonna close it. Meanwhile I’m BEGGING my trainers for some sort of solution to this relatively simple problem, and all they say, in direct response to my inquiry, is “I’m not sure what you want me to do but your call time is way too high in this call.” K. Excellent. Should I tell our customer?

I’m not a super demanding customer myself. I get that ppl have lives outside of work and that sometimes someone might be having a bad day. I’ve complained about customer service maybe once in my life, but the way I think I’m expected to treat people is outrageous.
