i hate how society has taught us to predicate our entire identities on what we do for a living

one of the first things people ask you when you’re getting to know each other is, “what do you do for work?” and then we’re taught to adapt that as our identity for the entirety of our existence. humans are more than the labor they’re able to produce. normalize cultivating hobbies and interests and developing personal growth and community building as equally legitimate ways to give back to society.
