Almost every job I've had it never takes me an 8 hours to complete my work. I currently have a security guard job where I do my patrols and I do 3 patrols in 8 hours. They only take me 10 minutes to do. Then I go back to my booth and I have 2 or 3 hours in between rounds where I have nothing to do but wait on trucks. My post is fairly quiet and none bothers me. Technically I am supposed to not be on my phone or other electronic devices while I work. But I make slightly above minimum wage and do it anyway. I wish I had a job where once I got my work done I am free to do what I want as long as the work is turned in.
