This idea that if you just work hard and persevere is so out of touch. I just had someone tell me to quit my job, get a new one I can walk to (there’s nothing within walking distance of suburban sprawl that actually pays living wages lol) and to get a two bedroom that I split with 5 other people to be successful…. Also that cars are a privilege like America isn’t built to separate areas of residence from areas of commerce or employment.
Idk just here to post a rant so here it goes
– no matter how hard you work it won’t change the fact that wages have been stagnant while prices skyrocket
– 60k salary doesn’t get you shit anymore
– people who make low wages literally don’t have a penny left over to save so we can’t blame bad investments or poor spending habits when they don’t have any money to even throw away
– yes you do actually need a car because neighborhoods that are walkable are expensive. You pay for the luxury of being close to work & our public transportation is crap & unreliable
– you can get evicted for cramming 5-6 people in a two bedroom bc that’s far beyond the occupancy limit
PEOPLE JUST SUCK. You can never work hard enough, your boss, a coworker, etc someone will always tell you to strap up those boots and work harder.
