I Just got fired for my job because I “verbally attacked” somebody but nobody even asked my side of what happened.

So here is some context. I’m 19 and I work a part time job at a gym I go to while i go to. I have a friend I know for 3 years (let’s call her “M”) and she works at the front desk. About 2 week ago, I was hanging out around the front desk, with “M” and a couple other co-workers we are all cool with. and it was late at night so the environment was pretty chill, and we where just bantering having a good time. My boss comes to talk to me that she got a complaint that I was verbally attacking another co-worker from a Patron. I explained what happened and she said she understood and it was all good. And you know what? I can understand how a person walking by, not getting the full context of the conversation, could be concerned. So I…

So I just accepted next time I’ll watch my tongue and move on with my day.

About 1 week ago. I was at the front desk, and “M” was there. A situation happened where someone started bleeding in the locker room and we needed to clean it up.

I walked over and helped out the client made sure everything was ok, and then “M” had to go clean up the spill because it was in the womens locker room. She asked what chemicals to use, and I cracked a joke (I made sure the time was appropriate, I was even smiling and it was OBVIOUS a friendly teasing manner. Even M and the client where smiling a bit and giggling a little bit) said “you always call me dumb, but you don’t know what chemicals to use?” Another employee and well respected member in the gym (let’s call him R) said “how about we don’t argue and just help” and didn’t even seem mad or anything. And the situation was sorted and the client even thanked me and “M” for handling the situation so well.

Well I just got a call 45 minutes ago from my boss saying, we don’t need you to help anymore. I asked is it something I did, and she said we got another complaint that you verbally attacked somebody that was bleeding in the locker room and where being an over all toxic person.

I was confused as all hell, and told her “hey look I don’t expect you to reconsider your decision, I really don’t, it’s just business and I understand, but this is an attack of my moral character, I just want some sort of explanation” and she said I can come in tomorrow.

I even talked to M and texted her about the situation. And she said she has no clue what happened and why I got let go. The only thing she could of guessed is maybe R didn’t like the way I talked to her and reported me. But even then I don’t know.

I know I can get another job, hell I even already have another job because the gym barely gave me hours. But it just feels so upsetting that my moral character was attacked and I was immediately let go. As if my word and my side of the story wasn’t good enough for my boss and I’m not valued. Like I do understand, she has a job to do. She really does, and I understand. But like I feel like you could of atleast heard my side and then said “hey we are going to have to let you go”

Just makes me upset and I want to vent.
