I love the bakery I work in. We're a franchise, so everything that my boss can control is great, but some things are still controlled by corporate (like payroll).
The first time was the single time I've used sick time the entire six months I've worked there. A cold worked it's way through the entire staff. I was sick for a week but only took one day off when I had a fever. My sick time didn't appear on my paycheck and corporate tried to say I had no sick time available. My GM argued and was able to get me a paper check the next day.
This time they shortened my worked hours so I didn't get any overtime. Last week, several people quit on the same day. I ended up working 12 just that one day and overall got 6~ hours of overtime. My time sheet shows I worked 46+ hours while my paycheck shows I worked exactly 40. That equates to about $100 after tax I was expecting. And they wonder why people keep quitting.
I'll think twice before stepping in to help out.
