I recently got an offer making 60% more than in my now ex-company (I was making 29k€ and in this new place they offered me 46k). This is considered a quite good salary in Spain, so it was easy for me to decide.
At this moment I’m on a parental leave, which is full paid and tax free for 16 weeks and I know my coworkers have been struggling because of my absence, but I was returning in september so they managed to keep on with the workpile until then.
I went last week to the office and everybody was a bit shocked bc they weren’t expecting to see me there and I told them I was leaving, I felt a bit bad for my coworkers but they understood and congratulated me. After that I went to meet my manager and HR and put my 30 days notice as required in my contract.
Then reminded them that I’m still in parental leave, so they have to pay me those days and I can’t be fired by law. Was a nice pikachu face to see. Of course they didn’t even counteroffer I already got a shitty 2% raise last year and I made them clear that I wasn’t happy about that.
So here I am enjoying my paid leave with a new job aligned with better pay, less hours and better benefits.
TLDR: I quit my job for a better one, put my 30 days notice but I’m on parental leave so they have to pay me for not working.
