I’m in NY. I recently quit my job. I was experiencing migraines only at work. Like horrible, bed ridden migraines. The office I worked in was very dirty, very unkept and poor lighting. I became scared because I would be dying from a headache all day and then have to drive home. I almost got into a horrible accident. Few other issues to note, I had sinus issues, lots of sneezing and some coughing, and recently there was an out break of bugs. A bug bit my leg and I had a huge reaction.
My doctor wrote me a note to work from home. She wanted to see if removing me from the environment would help (it did, no more headaches). I showed her photos of my office and she suspected the lack of proper lighting and the desk (not being ergonomic) was causing my headaches. Even a possibility the air quality is poor. She wanted me to see a PT and eye doctor. I am working with a PT and I do have scoliosis and BAD forward head posture. Eye doc appt pending till next week because of new year, new insurance. If I had no improvement, I would return to her and the step would be a neurologist.
I gave my boss the note and explained what I could. He was pissed and kept asking me the following questions over and over…
* when will you have a diagnosis
*how is your doctor determine if it’s a natural process or if it is related to being outside the office
*what is the remedy the doctor recommends
I have no answers yet and the note asked to work from home till diagnosis. He kept hounding me demanding answers. I kept saying “ask your doctor this and that”. That would require another appointment to talk to her and I can’t afford that. I answered him and he wouldn’t stop badgering me, so I felt I had to quit. I didn’t know what he could ask of me and felt he was violating my health privacy. Did he over step?
