I stumbled upon a great vetting process for potential employers

I work for the public sector in fiscal, administrative and clerical work. I've recently been looking for a job that fits my experience and is worth my time. My oldest daughter is 9 years old. This last week she came down with a really bad cold. I had to keep her home. I had several interviews scheduled, and had to contact them to request to either reschedule or move to Zoom. It dawned on me that this is a great vetting process for potential employers. After all, I've got two kids and their dad is an executive chef at a restaurant locally, so he isn't able to just take days off. The business is small and the nature of the work requires he be present or the business will lose thousands of dollars.
I had a great interaction with a few employers who were happy to move to Zoom or reschedule. I realized which positions would be a good fit for me and was able to see how each supervisor handled the situation.
I'm able to do this because I have a decade of experience and savings, and we just moved from CA. I had to transfer my retirement to our bank, with a 20% penalty. I say this to convey I wouldn't necessarily be so bold without a sturdy backup, financially.
I am going to do this with all potential employers from now on. Let them jump through a few hoops for once.
