I see so many posts here on r/antiwork where people describe having absolutely terrible bosses and work environments: managers committing illegal acts, bullying employees over 5 minute piss breaks, intimidating employees for talking about wages, etc. It's a bunch of bullshit and I want to help. My question is: how can I help?
Here's my initial thought so tell me if you think it's a good idea or just counterproductive: I could purposefully try to find shitty local employers, get a second job at those places (working nights or weekends, as I'm already employed), and then loudly call them out every time they do something stupid, shitty, or illegal. I know a fair amount of labor law and (actual) best management practices from my real job, and it affords me the safety net to tell a manager to fuck off. On the other hand I don't want to take a job from someone who needs it, nor drop a molotov into an already-volatile workplace when I have the luxury to just walk out if things get real ugly. (A luxury my hypothetical coworkers may not have, and who'd likely have to deal with the manager when I'm gone.)
I guess I just want to hear some perspectives from the community. Your thoughts? Other ideas?
