Antiwork

I was hoodwinked into staying at my current workplace.

I have been looking for other positions in my small town, and recently received a pretty good offer elsewhere. I told my boss about it, and they offered me a promotion. I was torn, I asked for a few days to think it over. Ultimately I made the decision to stay, because the promotion was too good to turn down. The day of the deadline, after I signed my new contract we had a company announcement. They layed off another site, almost 50 people, a site with people who have similar qualifications to me. They didnt tell me they could have easily filled my position after I left. Instead they forced me to make a decision before the announcement, and take a job that could have been reserved for someone being let go elsewhere. I feel terrible. It was a good move for my career, just not for my conscience.…

I feel terrible. It was a good move for my career, just not for my conscience. Don't really know what to do now except ride the mindless machine and watch it all play out.
