I’ve been working since I was 19. I am 28 now, and I was laid off for the first time in 2021. Then I was fired for the first time in 2022.
Let me explain…
The first job in question laid off most of its employees because the company was moving locations. So, I was one of many who was laid off.
The second job offered me a permanent position after the 90-day trial period ended. I countered with a $2/hr increase and was fired on the spot (hotheaded boss who somehow felt offended that I even countered although I always do and have never received this sort of response).
Both of these jobs lasted less than a year.
Anyway, now I’m unemployed. Have been for a year. I’ve submitted at least a hundred applications, even to small stores nearby, and I cannot secure a job.
I feel like my career is over. I have no clue how to make money even though I need it to move from an abusive household.
I hate that there are no repercussions on their end, just mine.
