Hello everyone, This is my first post here. I’m seeking advice about what to do and how to go about things when it comes to being in a highly toxic work environment. I’m not the best at explanations…
I started a Jimmy John’s job way back in February of this year. It’s my first time ever being in a fast food work environment so I’m trying my best to hang in there… but I can’t do it anymore. The staff is highly disrespectful to me, The General Manager is honestly a huge disappointment and an insult to the company and it’s policies, I get literally yelled at whenever I ask literal legit questions telling me “You should already know this by now! What are you slow and stupid?” or I don’t know something despite ASKING for someone to help me. The General Manager HIMSELF and all the the other managers on shift smoke weed in the building, Roll up and sell weed to customers and crackheads in the building and carry firearms while sometimes even brandishing as well as showing off their firearms to each other INSHOP which is a huge safety risk and breaks company policy. What’s worse is that they leave them around and forget about them despite me reminding them to put them away. Mind you guys, I work with a bunch of Felons and people that are fresh out of jail so of course when I say anything, I get looked at like I’m a total dumbass and blatantly disregarded. The teens that I have to work with are the SAME way as well, Which is even worse for the company. None of them do their jobs and when I say something and at ask them for something simple they respond with “I’m on break, Ask someone else”
Yet I work here… Losing myself everyday because I want to provide the best customer service I can for our customers in order to save the locations name and not make it look bad because I care. Despite being yelled at, Disrespected and called out of my name, Carrying everyone’s work weight on my shoulders I still stay. What do I do? I can’t stay here any longer than I have to but I do because I care.
