Antiwork

I work for a small business and the owner just schedules me whenever, even after I’ve told them my availability

There’s the owner and then another woman (let’s call her Annie) who seems to actually do a lot of the work that he doesn’t. She actually makes sure that people who are scheduled for shifts not within their time are actually okay with doing them. Sometimes I just want to quit cold turkey because of this shit. It’s so frustrating seeing him schedule me and then I text him within the hour to let him know I’m not available and then he tells me to ask Annie to fix it on the schedule AFTER HE WAS THE ONE WHO JUST SCHEDULED ME. And then they have the nerve to tell me to ask if someone else is available to do the shift they assigned for me when they didn’t even ask if I was available in the first place. Now you put it back on me to find someone else…

Now you put it back on me to find someone else to cover the shift??

Then I feel bad and selfish sometimes because I feel like I’m burdening someone else when I can’t do a shift…but then I have to remind myself that just because they’re short staffed doesn’t mean I have to make up for it, and neither does anyone else. They don’t even pay that good!
