The title explains most of my situation. I live in an at-will state. I worked for a private healthcare company. Basically I've been there a little less than a month. In this short time, my hours were being tracked on paper, but I have had trouble clocking in and out (hence why I've been logging my hours on paper). I've reached out to my boss (who's also the owner of the company), and he has dismissed me every time I've brought it to his attention. Over the weekend, I've reached out to my operations manager explaining the situation and giving written notice of my resignation. I have also emailed the company directly with my resignation effective immediately. My boss/the company's owner left me a voicemail saying his lawyer will be reaching out to me through mail for breaching my contract, even though my state is an at-will employer. What did he expect me to do? Work the 2 weeks without pay, had I given a 2 week notice? I called back explaining that I am allowed to resign effective immediately, and that I am owed the hours I worked. He then accused me of being “an alien”, and that my “alien fingerprints” were the reason my time wasn't being logged properly. Thanks for reading this, reddit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
