ICU nurse here, the two options we get to explain why we didn’t receive a lunch break. There’s no option for “short staffed” or my “patient was dying.”

This is what populates on the punch clock where I am currently working as an RN. When you punch out for your shift, it asks you if you received a full 30 minute uninterrupted lunch break, if you choose no then these are the two options that show up to choose from as to why you did not take a lunch break. We have no staff to help relieve for lunches. We have critical ICU patients. My lunch is never uninterrupted, between phone calls or family members needing something. I love the option of “manager request”, when management is also never there to relieve nurses for lunches. And they wonder why nurses are burnt out…
