This isn’t a “you lost, get over it” post. This is the truth and the best way for you to get back at those who’ve treated you like shit.

The best way you can get back at your shitty boss or workplace is to:

  1. Find a friend who will be your “boss” and confirm only that you worked at X place from Y to Z date and left on good terms.

  2. Quit work with no notice. Fridays are best because it ruins your managers weekend.

  3. Find work at a better place.

Just like you vote with your dollar, you empower with your time. Turnover is fucking expensive from a business perspective. You might say you work for a tiny company so it doesn’t matter, or you work for a large company and never will be noticed for quitting, you’re wrong and here’s why:

Tiny Company: each employee is critical and losing one from a team of 20 results in lower morale and lost revenue.

Big company: in big companies, it’s all about reducing cost. Managers with tons of turnover eventually get fired just because they cost the business too much money.

Trying to change a bad boss is like trying to fix your abusive significant other. They won’t learn until you leave, and if they still don’t learn, they’re likely to die alone.

The way that work consumes our lives must change. That will take some time. This is the best way to do something impactful in the interim.
