Non-US resident and a freelancer here btw.
So, I work in the freelance world as a social media manager. I've recently worked with a huge company — probably the biggest I've ever worked with. I was so happy and the job was quite good. I also know how much I'm supposed to get : around 2,1k for the two weeks (sounds big but France takes a huge part of it, and I live in a pretty expensive city because it was easier to found a job this way).
When the mission ended, I sent my bill to the agency. Then, I had to wait for an answer which was weird because there were pretty quick on average. When I got the answer on the matter of “Did you receive my bill?”, they said yes. Then, I had to ask by myself when will I get paid. And then, they pulled something I didn't know called “50 days + end of month”. I was like “What is that?” as most of my clients paid me instantly when they received my bill, if not before. I looked it up and I burst in flames : apparently they will pay me 50 days after they received the bill, but not really… You see, I sent my bill the 20th of August. If you add 50 days to the 20th of August, you'll end up on October 9 2023. Remember “the end of month” after the “50 days +” ? Yeah, that mean they will pay me at the end of October and with my bank delay, I'll end up with the money in November.
Apparently It's fully legal and because they didn't told me in advance I'm not sure I can really tell them anything besides begging them. Yes, I am begging them so I can pay my rent.
I don't know what am I supposed to do, It's unbelievable.
