I’m ineligible for raises/bonuses this year due to my transition to “full-time” missing the cutoff by 3 weeks after working there for over 2 years.

This is more of a rant than anything else. I’ve been working as a full time contractor for over two years for this company. I started September 2019 and was finally hired on as a “Full Time Employee” this October. Mind you, I still worked 40 hours a week. I’ve had all the same responsibilities, if not more, than their actual employees. I’ve been pulled into special projects, training for different teams, and I’m even the SME (subject matter expert) for several different brands. I got this job right before Covid happened. I hadn’t planned on staying for very long, but then the world stopped and I was just grateful that I still had a job and survived several rounds of layoffs. We have monthly performance reviews and I have NEVER gotten a bad review. My managers have had nothing bad to say about my work. I have never had…

I have never had a single complaint from any customer. I’ve had coworkers from other departments reach out to management and praise my work. I’ve had customers request that I work on their projects.

I’d been told for months by management that they were planning on hiring me on directly; they were just waiting for HR to approve it. At one of my performance reviews my manager told me I’d definitely be eligible for a raise this spring through their “merit” program based on my performance and the special projects I’ve worked on.

I just had this month’s performance review and was told that due to my hire date, I am not eligible for any raises/bonuses this year. My manager basically said “keep up the good work for next year”.

I am so incredibly pissed. I have no doubt in my mind that the delay to hire me was to ensure they missed that hire date cut off so they’d have an excuse to not increase my pay/give me any bonuses I would have earned. I’ve done great work for over 2 years. I’ve had no complaints about my work. One of the special project managers sent an email to the Senior Vice President of Operations praising my work and thanking my managers for letting me work with their department on a 6 month project. And yet because on paper it says I’ve only worked there for 3 months they won’t financially recognize the work I’ve done. I am so over it.

I just finished some specialized training this week and they’ve already arranged for me to enroll in another training next week. They’re willing to give me even more work and responsibilities, but I’m not eligible for any rewards. What bullshit.
