The whole problem is that I work in a very loud, dusty, poorly ventilated warehouse. My responsibilities include the tearing down and reassembling of concrete vaults. This includes working with 800lb+ vaults that need to be cleaned and oiled with an oil sprayer. And like I said, the warehouse is poorly ventilated. Iask or not, I’m always breathing in diesel oil and concrete dust. Nor are the bathrooms (porta potties), tools, and workstations sanitized regularly.
Just this past Christmas week, about two other employees who work near me went home due to illness like throwing up, headaches, and fatigue. Although it could be Covid, I have not yet tested but I am having similar symptoms after just being in contact with those who went home Ill.
My particular problem is that I’ve gone through my sick time and have already been warned and that the next action they’ll take is suspending me for a few days, after that, termination. Which I don’t see as fair because of the poor working conditions that I believe have caused me to get sick repeatedly through the past couple months.
I don’t want to lose this job but at the same time, my health has been suffering because of the lack of care and responsibility to keep the work space and employees safe.
