Hi guys. I'm posting here since I feel like this subreddit can relate the most. I'm in highschool right now. I grew up poor, with a single mom & a deadbeat dad so my family's always been struggling. I'm going to college next year but I have to get an apartment because of my pets. I'm just so scared. I don't know how I'm gonna afford living on my own with minimal help from my family. The college I'm going to is in a town that doesn't really have anything else, so I've heard that it can be tough getting a job there. I work pretty much full time right now, and have for a long time but all my money I'm earning is going to a surgery I need to get. I have a roomate set up and everything so that will mitigate expenses a little bit but I'm just so nervous. I'm not really looking for reassurance but maybe advice? Or just someone to talk to about this lol. I appreciate anyone who's given their time to read this.
