I had faith in my boss to make an effort to improve things, but at this point I've learned that she tries to be on everyone's side and therefore nothing ever actually gets fixed. Today I'm pissed because it is the second day in a row that someone from work has been rude to me for no reason.
We have two sides of our facility, each side performs different services for clients. Clients frequently call the wrong side and usually we can just let reception know and they can pick it up. But my side has only one receptionist on shift, the other side has 3-5. I do not have as much to do, but I'm still usually running around like a maniac because I often have more then one person should have to do. Yesterday my coworker was sitting up at the desk while I went to pee. They aren't trained on actually doing anything up front other then putting calls on hold, but it's better than nothing. I was waiting for someone to get out of the bathroom and the person covering for me can't back to tell me someone is on the phone for me on the other side's line and the recruitment came over mad, asking who is supposed to be up at our desk.
Today I took my chance during a slow time to eat some lunch and I was in the back for about 5 minutes before another receptionist grumpily asked, Is anyone working up front?”. I said I am just trying to eat some food and that I would get it in a second.
In both of these situations I was within earshot of my phone line and nobody called my line first. They just called the wrong line and the receptionists over on the other side were bad that I wasn't immediately available. If somebody had actually called my line I would've heard it and run up immediately. We actually have a meeting tomorrow so I'm going to bring this up so we can find a better way to do that sort of thing. It's just such an insult to be working my ass off with no real break, and to have someone act like I'm not doing my job.
