Just sitting here on backshift seething at my job. I work dispatching technicians to natural gas odors and power outages. Our department never closes or has days off and we always need each shift covered. And yet, we're full time with a 1.25x overtime rate.
If nobody ever gets sick, or uses pto, than everybody works 40 hours a week. But the second a shift opens up its immediately on us to fill it and get our shitty overtime rate. Overtime is treated like a commodity and everyone constantly gives you shit for not taking ENOUGH.
We have a running list of total OT and the lowest person on that list will get forced to come in if nobody takes it.
I have no fucking clue why we're not just overstaffed with part time employees.
