Investigating a union, what is it like to work for one? Questions and worries

I've only ever worked at two places; a grocery store and a warehouse. My current job is not the most pleasant, I can't even afford rent. But it is a steady paycheck and the job is easy with over 15 USD an hour. Or 34k before taxes. Recently, I decided to google if there were any unions nearby that I could potentially work for. There is. Specifically one called IBEW or the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. It caught my interest and I was curious for answers I couldn't find on my own, like the post title says: What is it like to work for a union? How much does a union typically pay new employees? The IBEW has an apprenticeship thing that last for 5 years. (idk how common that might be) But has no pay listed anywhere. A google search gave me numbers from 40k up to 60k.…

How much does a union typically pay new employees? The IBEW has an apprenticeship thing that last for 5 years. (idk how common that might be) But has no pay listed anywhere. A google search gave me numbers from 40k up to 60k.

What benefits would there be? Again, the IBEW lists nothing on this.

How are things structured?

These may be questions that are overthinking things, but I'm afraid of taking a step that I may regret when I could play it safe where I work now. This sounds like it would need a commitment of 5 years before any real pay increase (I could be entirely wrong. But that's the first impression I get).

I am totally overthinking this, but I'm also very nervous about applying; if I want to or should at all.
