So I work at a paint store and there were 2 managers when I started working here. The no-nonsense, more serious and business partnership handling manager. The second being a younger, more energetic and “human”-like assistant manager who mostly handles customer interactions.
I just went to a going away get-together at bar and yeah, sucks to see one of my favorite managers ever leave, that wasn't a dealbreaker to me. I was told while at that party that our store lwaderwas fired due to an medical status change (basically they couldn't lift heavier things and that's a big part of the job). They were assuming it'd be temporary the change in work load, but they fired them after it came out it'd be permanent. Which sucks because they were so nice, and honestly did more work than most of the people who CAN lift things. but still didn't make it a dealbreaker.
But now, as I was told yesterday, the other manager, the one that honestly gives me anxiety is leaving right before the summer season. The one filling in his role is the location or regional manager of our area, and it's honestly giving me the vibe that the even slight amount of chill that was offered before will go right out the window. I wouldn't mind but the fact that their going higher up the ladder for their management role makes me think they'll care less about us individually and try to make us profitable by any means.
Is it a fair assessment to say that management will start to adhere closer to what corporate says than the chill vibe the place used to have? Summer is a big busy time for us, and I'm worried they'll make things worse for the employees for the sake of profits. I already intended to leave before the summer season or at least reduce my hours, but I'm thinking I might have to consider straight up changing jobs when I'm able. This place is okay… but I can't really see myself doing this long term if thats how it begins to go.
TLDR; Two managers leave in quick succession, right after the store leader gets fired for a disability status change. Considering changing jobs because of my fear that the work environment is already taking a toll without a full shakeup of store leadership.
