Is desperation in a potential employer a red flag for you?

Ive been applying for new work in a different field, for a change of pace. I usually don’t have 100% of the experience they ask for, but I still send them my résumé, because why not? The worst they’ll say is no and I still have my current job. I applied for a few jobs this afternoon while I was having lunch, I checked my phone a while later and had a missed call from an unknown number, no voicemail, but a text message asking if I could call them back about my application to organise an interview. I don’t know why, but I started seeing red flags. I get wanting to fill a job position, but it couldn’t have waited until Monday? Why are you working instead of enjoying your weekend? I know the company hours are Mon-Fri 8-4. Have I been the only candidate? Even over a week after the job posting? If not why have other candidates been unsuccessful? Why are you struggling to fill the position? I have so many questions and none of them are good.

Does anyone else get put off by the stench of desperation when applying for a job?
