I just read an article that referenced a woman with expired registration and license that got stranded on a highway after being pulled over by a cop. She simply forgot to renew both. The article mentioned leniency in some cases, based on how long ago it expired. The leniency is in-part due to mail reminders not being provided anymore, but the article mentioned that email reminders still get sent out.
That got me thinking. My email is completely useless. I get so much junk and spam. I try and check for important emails but I know that important stuff slips through. Phone calls too….there are so many scams nowadays that if there's no caller ID or I'm not expecting a call, I'll let it go to voicemail.
Spam is ridiculous in my country, but the government refuses to address it. The most i've seen is a website you can go to and 'report' spam. Is the lack of regulation intentional? Or am I just over-thinking? This story where a missed email cost someone almost $800 in fines and a $250 cab ride has me nervous.
