I was fired from a job a couple years ago after my first complaint in 15 years. “With cause” so not only did they not pay severance, they also lied to the unemployment office about why they fired me and it was so heinous that I wasn't able to collect EI
I exhausted all options available to me, even publicly described all the abuse over the years (sexism, ableism, poor-shamimg customers, telling me to ignore sexual harassment by coworkers and third party contractors, etc, etc ad nauseum)
But one thing that I didn't figure out was why the staff wasn't permitted to have access to HR directly. It was there for management only, and if we had any issues (like how the manager was bullying, belittling, and mistreating the staff) we were required to report it to our “HR liaison”… Which was the manager. Can anyone shed light on this?
Additional information; there was an employee manual that detailed everything from what colour nail polish you could wear to properly reporting workplace bullying and harassment that “could be changed or updated without notice” almost 2 years prior to my termination
