Hi everyone!
I’ve been struggling on the next steps for this as it’s really frustrating and everyone seems to be at a standstill.
I get tuition reimbursement of $5k per year. I have received $2.4k in January to cover last fall’s tuition. Policy states we should get our reimbursements 30 days after approval. My approval for my spring reimbursement was done on May 17th.
First of all they were going to give me the wrong reimbursement I clearly stated in the notes my receipt for what school costed and what I was asking for was different. I was only asking for 1.4k and the bill was 2.4k and they stated “approved for 2k”
So I still do not have my reimbursement. I sent an inquiry at the end of June to HR asking for an update. They decided to respond when you could clearly tell I was OOO for vacation (auto reply) then closed the case while I was still OOO due to no reply.
They’re trying to state they paid me already and are referencing the payment from January. The reply had a specific contact person so when I came back from vacation I attached all the documentation which was the reference number for approval, the email reply stating they already paid me, and a screenshot of the reimbursement I was looking for as well.
I waited a week, no reply. I checked in again, no reply. I have now sent this to my manager asking for help and she also does not really know what to do (it’s not her position to, no blame for her here whatsoever) I explained when I did attempt to call HR in the past it has been a faulty number and they have pushed for online communication only.
Can this be considered wage theft that I can report it? Is there a more appropriate term/party I should report too? It’s a promised benefit and I am quite frankly sick of waiting with absolutely 0 communication. AAAAND the kicker is if I quit my position within 1 year of receiving my last reimbursement I owe all the money back so it’s not like I can just leave. I am stuck either way and I will only have my associate’s next year. I am now petrified to even try getting my bachelor’s degree!
