Okay here are the details:
Company just let go of two intelligent and dedicated employees, one with 2 weeks notice and the other with 4 days notice. They were told “your position no longer exist”. Company also has a bad rep with almost all staff saying they are doing the job of two positions, I would agree this is the same with my experience. We are super understaffed, why get rid of two positions?
Upon taking the job I was told I would get a raise with a 90 day meeting if I was up to expectations, I went above and beyond and never missed a mark but when I asked about the 90 day meeting I’m told it’ll probably be in a few months and HR guy seemed to forget making me that promise when I took the job…seems fishy. Also it was an agreement made over the phone and not in writing so I bet I’ll lose that argument if I bring up the promise that was made.
Another employee was hired and told the job she applied for doesn’t exist anymore and was put into a lower position until something eventually “opens up”. Online we can see the job post still up for the position they said “doesn’t exist”. I work at a non-profit, the summer program just ended and this woman has to wait until Monday to find out if she still has a job to work during the school year. They couldn’t of told her this …ohh you know, maybe weeks before the summer program ends?
I just started this job 4 months ago and am completely burnt out with the workload, the system set up makes me spread very thin which leads me to believe it would be better if made into two positions, but the company only wants to pay for one. I could make much better money if I applied elsewhere with the skill set I possess and I’m super tempted to leave…but I’d hate to jump ship after only 4 months. Do their practices sound wack?
