Ancient Rome – Slaves used to hold high ranking civil service jobs or whatever. The narrative is always like wow they were so common they could work in the government.
A lot of current media seems to conform to this normalisation of slavery. Very much implying “if you’re not a slave you’re one of us” you better not rock the boat.
