I have been working for a real estate firm as a closing coordinator for over 3 years. He has about 10 employees but pays us all as 1099 independent contractors. We all are not real estate agents. We do customer service and closings. We get no sick time, holiday pay,overtime. I get paid $15 an hour and just got a dollar raise this year. I work 40 hours and am scheduled 9-5. This is my first job so im not sure if this is normal. I have tried to ask my boss but we are all remote and he does not answer calls,emails, or texts.I am in Florida. He is making cuts this week and I may be fired because the closings are slow. Do I qualify for unemployment? I’ve been a dedicated and loyal employee.
Every year I file taxes as a 1099. I’m so stressed about this.
