I was laid off last week. I was told my position was as eliminated. I have not been getting along with my boss because for the last months, his latent homophobia has been an issue. I tried many times to address it by talking with him, but he just gets defensive and angry. I shared this with two board members – board pres & treasurer. So, I get laid off last week. I work remote, so I turned in all company property and made a detailed list of duties and such. I was told I would get 2 months salary and be eligible for unemployment.
I am still the company administrator for the payroll system. I have not logged in, but I get emails in my personal account about company actions. On Monday, they hired an existing contractor (straight female) to do my old job (i have the payroll system email – didn’t want it but they haven’t changed their system). Anyhow, I am still taking questions from my boss about work, but they have not properly off-boarded me so I cant access pay stubs to file for unemployment. It’s been over a week since I was let go.
Any advice on what I can do in this situation to protect myself?
