It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize we are not a free society.

Back in college I remember thinking foolishly that with age and a degree, one became free of the mental anguish of tiptoeing around petty/immature/sadistic bosses. It took me until my 40s to realize that is not the case unless one has the privilege of being able to retire. Unfortunately it will always be that way as long as American society places all of our economic security and access to healthcare in the hands of employers. Just a rant on a difficult day. Thanks for reading.
