Hey there, I'm a 21 year old male, who lives in apartment with my boyfriend. We have been here for a year, and a half now. At first things were great, we both have amazing jobs, and make good money. Until last year my boyfriend quit his job. It was worth it though since that job was super toxic, and the owners of the place didn't really like men. It was an all female worker restaurant, and he was the only male that worked there. Anyways, he worked at Victoria's secret for a couple of months but got laid off since he was working seasonal. After that it was the beginning of 2023, which was super hard to find a job then.
We weren't in any rush since he had a lot of money saved up from when he was working at his previous job. He kept looking, and looking and found nothing. He is currently working at holister, but they pay him 8 bucks an hour, and he barely gets 10 hours a week. He got the job back in may, and still hasn't got a raise, or an increase in hours. Our lease renewal is coming up on October 31st. They are increasing our rent 100 bucks. which I can totally pay for myself. We both split rent, bills, and other stuff 50/50. I don't mind paying for the majority of the rent.
I love my boyfriend to death, and I will do anything for him. He wants us both to not renew the lease, and move in with his mother for a couple of months until he can find a better paying job. The thing is, I don't have a car, and his mother lives far away from my job. I regularly take the bus. From where she lives, there are no bus stops that make it even close to my job. I feel like I am at a brick wall, I love my job, and my coworkers, but I might have to quit to find a job closer to my BFS mothers house.
Hopfully from a few weeks from now, my boyfriend can find a decent job that pays well, and gives him more hours. My whole question in all this, why is it so hard to find jobs these days? How come people aren't hiring? He applied to almost 100 places, and not even a nibble…
