We are around 4x more productive than the people of the 1960s – yet we earn around the same they earned – perhaps a little more. All technology did, was to enable us to make more tasks more quickly thus increasing our work load and stress – while keeping our work hours.
I estimate that around 5% of all jobs are BS jobs where people have to be present but dont really do any work and could be eliminated. Thats several Million extra workers released into the labour force
Many jobs are also very inefficent
Many of the work tasks are unnecessary
And the greatest factor: Not everything has to be open all of the time and not everything has to be done by yesterday. By reducing opening hours by one ot two hours we could save HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of work hour every WEEK.
If online shipments – or the excel list take 4 days to arrive/complete instead of 1 or 2 – it would also not be a big deal.
Basically we could work around 25 hours as full time – and make the same or even a bit more money – and the only thing that would change would be a little less profit for the rich pigs. Its just insane.
