I’ve been on leave of absence for over 2 months someone please explain why they make me fill out paperwork to extend it when I’m injured

I broke my ankle in September. It is unsafe for me to be at work on crutches so I had to file for LOA from work so I can get 70% pay until I heal. I have no printer, computer, or scanner to do so and it’s a pdf that you have to print, fill out, and fax or email back. I’ve had to get my parents help. Since the beginning- they asked me for a return to work date and I gave them the time the doctor told me was expected to heal. It didn’t heal by then, so I had to go through the process of doing it all again. And it still hasn’t healed so total I’ve done this 3x in 2 and a half months. It just doesn’t make sense to me that while I’m injured I have to keep going through this process. I understand…

I understand they need to be sure I’m not abusing the system, but I feel like a phone call to my doctor would suffice. It’s just so frustrating. I work for a healthcare company ffs.
