I’ve got so much experience yet can’t seem to find a job.

I’m certified as a cook and live in a tourist gold mine of a town. You’d think it would be so easy to find a job with the YEARS of experience I’ve got under my belt but nope. Last week I had an interview with a place that was highly interested in me and a few days later they emailed back saying they don’t think I am a good fit anymore. I was so blindsided because they weren’t even advertising for workers but had seen my work in the past and was eager to speak with me. I’ve got resumes in nearly every other place and they are either not replying to my emails or not actually looking to hire, but post advertising anyway. How can someone so experienced struggling to find work?
