Job Applications and Data Selling

I’ve been in the application mode for a bit now. Making accounts is a huge portion of that task. Just about every organization has its own internal software to organize applicant data. Whenever I am in an application mode I begin getting spam emails and calls like crazy. I am assuming that the fine print of each privacy agreement states they reserve the right to sell my information. It almost seems like organizations keep applications open simply so they can harvest data that can be sold for profit. Are any other job searchers experiencing this?
