Jobs I've applied to:
Military – Rejected due to my medical record
Steel Worker – interview went great but didn't get a call back
Car Detailer – seemed promising but was rejected last minute for lack of experience
Some job building boats – same as steel working job i applied for
Solar Panel installer – rejected because i lived too far away from their area of business
Landscaping Contractor – honestly fumbled the interview a bit so was kind of my fault
Unpaid Internship at a wildlife rescue – position was super competitive and a uni grad got it
This was all in the last month. I'm not just listing this out to vent but to illustrate how insane it is to get a livable wage today. Most of these jobs are physically demanding and not comfortable yet still demand some form of education or experience. Literal unpaid internships are demanding people with years of schooling and mountains of debt.
Fighting tooth and nail just to find a job that pays enough that I can afford a shitbox apartment and a used car. What the actual fuck.
