I am employed with a company where I work remotely from home 95% of the time. On occasion, I am required to travel to job sites for various reasons, usually at least 1 or more hours from my home.
I have been trying to research and find an answer to my question: is my travel time from my “home” (really, office) to the job site compensable? The answers I’m finding vary, but for the most part I am seeing that your “normal, regular” commute is NOT compensable. I work from home; therefore, my “normal, regular” commute is zero. So in my mind, anything beyond that would be paid travel time?
If anyone has any legal resources that paint a definitive answer to this question, please send them my way!
TLDR; what is considered compensable travel time when you work remotely/from home?
