I’m a retail worker, cashier specifically, at an office supply store (not the one with the Easy button, the other one) and our physical location is really small. On an average day we have only about 5-6 employees in the store, which means I typically end up doing more than just cashiering. But because of the small size I highly doubt our store could ever unionize. However, I would like to join a union. Is it possible to join a union independently? I know there are unions that exist like this for other industries but I haven’t heard of one for retail workers.
