About two months ago, I took a job with a company to do electrical service work. In the interview they guaranteed me 40 hours with a week, with an optional 20 hours a week overtime. First few weeks, I loved the job. Then they sent me to work on live parking lot lights during a storm off a 45 foot lift with no fall protection and no spotter. I refused, and my direct supervisor gave me some passive aggressive bs about how disappointed our customer would be, and how disappointed he was, blah blah. The following day, my calls were cut short and I was sent home early. Same thing the next day, and the next. For the next 4 weeks, I was given under 32 hours to work. When finally this proved to be too financially damaging, I raised my voice about how they guaranteed me 40 hours, etc. That day I was laid off with no reason as to why. I filed for unemployment, they contested it, and I've yet to be paid. Next week, I'll lose my car. In the following weeks, I'll lose my new job, and then my house. I'm 35 years old. I am sick of starting over. Fuck RSC Mechanical, and fuck this bullshit system that leaves workers powerless.
